Chemainus real estate has unique characteristics. As Chemainus realtors, our team has experience with this town, having lived in the Cowichan Valley most of their lives.

About Chemainus

Chemainus, another one of the Cowichan Valley’s quaint seaside communities, is known as “The Little Town that Did”© and has become world-famous for its outdoor gallery of murals - there are 44 murals and sculptures all within walking distance of the town center.

Chemainus is located 1 hour north of Victoria, 30 minutes south of Nanaimo, and 10 minutes north of Duncan. You can take the BC Ferry over to Thetis Island.

Chemainus offers unique shops and galleries, coffee shops, grocery store, restaurants, Hansel & Gretel’s Candy Co., weekly Music in the Park summer concerts and horse-drawn carriage tours. There is a new 49th Parallel Grocery Store and Riot Brewing. It provides many outdoor recreational activities like hiking trails, Fuller Lake Arena for skating, tennis courts, and the Mt. Brenton Golf Course. Located on the ocean, on the east side of Vancouver Island, there is great scuba diving at the first artificial reef in BC made from a 737 aircraft and sunken barges off Kinsmen Beach.

Chemainus provides a public elementary school and secondary school, a private St. Joseph’s elementary school and Chemainus Native College/Stu’ate Lelum.

In Closing

I'm a theatre junkie, and having the Chemainus Theatre right here in the Cowichan Valley, is such a treat. It may only seat 274 guests, but it has top-notch dramas, musicals and concerts that I thoroughly enjoy, and not to mention the Playbill Dining Room buffet! - David Lowes
